Hello!

This page responds to 2 questions... 1. "…We have all these other ways to connect, but how would we support you financially in any way that would not make fools of us nor insult your dignity?" and 2. “Do you have art we could buy?”

First: Thank you for asking! I’ve been meaning to implement a bunch of ideas for generating income from my political art for years, but I haven’t had time to do, because too much of my life has been consumed by survival. ... Initial short answers are that I WILL accept help, and YES I have art you can buy! To answer the first part of the question about how others might support me “financially in any way that would not make fools…” of supporters, is this: If you think my political artwork is worthy of continuing, if my writing and painting and audio productions / interviews addressing the world’s systematic destruction have meaning and power and communicate to you, then financial support for me to keep doing it would not be foolish! Info and links to how you can support my work so I can keep doing that are below.

I’m not insulted when people help me. I’ve accepted help before. One example is the exhibit in Herkimer, NY, to which I contributed my photos that tell the story of the wilderness imprisoned and exploited by the domestication of the city in which I live, the wilderness with which I work to develop a relationship in order to share that story.
I wrote about that relationship here: “heron song”: I would not have been able to participate in that show were it not for one of my fans sending support of nearly $200 to get me there, to pay for gas, food, and lodging.

You can read about this show here, and see links to the artwork here at my most recent and important artist's statement:
myths, lies, photos & action: a spiritmorph statement

Another example…I went to Pennsylvania last March, right before Earth Day, and did a tour of the Allegheny National Forest, the largest forest near where I live, the forest necessary for the life of all animals, including humans, which the oil industry is destroying by extracting the natural gas from the Marcellus Shale. I received $25 in support to be able to do that tour and ultimately did this audio commentary about that experience: “Questions from Allegheny National Forest”: http://www.spiritmorphstudio.com/radioroxanne4-22-10earthday-allegany.html

And last year, when my car was broken and in the shop for four months, one of my fans (and a friend) paid me $1,000 dollars for my work writing about the criminal Gulf of Mexico Oil Hemorrhage. That payment for my service made it possible to pay for my car repairs, and continue to support myself with my business, because as this culture stands, I cannot do my wage slavery without a car. Here are some examples of the writing I did last year… Audio: “Oceans of Oil”: http://www.spiritmorphstudio.com/radioroxanne5-21-2010_oceans_of_oil.html ; Article: “BP Burning Sea Turtles”: http://www.spiritmorphstudio.com/bp-is-burning-turtles.html Article: “Bev’s Take / Our Stake in the Story”: http://www.spiritmorphstudio.com/bp-day91-bevs_take_our_stake.html

And more recently, as I was writing this note, a friend, someone who’s purchased my art in the past, sent me $500 through paypal for my work!

A few years ago, I wrote this journal entry I recently rediscovered: “No Small Thing: The complete re-organization of my time and finances to serve my writing, visual, and audio art, and physical and spiritual well-being, with the intention of offering my gifts to the world…” (Wed., 14 Apr., 2004)

The bottom line is this: The world is being destroyed. Time is running out to stop the predatory economic system of corporate-elite capitalism from killing the world and all of us, and you can look around everywhere to see news of evidence of that in every ecological sector. While the ecological dangers are closing in, so are the economic dangers. There is less time and energy for me to do my work, the harder I have to work a job that takes away from the time and energy I have to give. That means I am not giving back to the world the life I have which is meant to give back to the earth. The essential question I think we are all faced with and must answer is “What will we do with what time remains of our lives to save what remains of the world?”

I want to do my work for a living, not constantly fight to find stable ground to then find the time to do my work. I will fight to do it to the point of homelessness, because my art has more meaning to me and to the world’s survival than does my housecleaning. I have dozens of projects I’ve started that I want to complete—Interviews with people like Derrick Jensen, John Trudell, Paul Watson, Urban Scout, Flux Rostrum.  I have an audio tour of the Allegheny National Forest which more deeply explores the destruction the oil industry is doing there. I have essays and poems and audio pieces I’ve started and because the economy is so unstable, my attention keeps being taken up by finding more cleaning jobs. I have all sorts of collage-paintings and photos I am working on, and can do, all of which deal with the world that counts.

Below is a list of links and info on how you can help me keep doing my work! Thank you!

1. The art gallery at my website is here: http://www.spiritmorphstudio.com/gallery.htm Not all of my work is there, yet. But I’m working on getting it there.

2. I also have photo prints I will sell. I’m still working on pricing them. You can view those photos here: http://RoxanneAmico.imagekind.com/

One thing I need to do is take a whole day and work out pricing for PRINTS of my photos And paintings. What you see above are images of photos, and Original collage-paintings. I get lots of inquiries for purchases of Prints, but my time is so consumed by surviving the economic collapse, I haven’t had time to just price out the prints. I will do that sometime soon…

If you see images you’d like to purchase and you can’t afford the original, it’s okay. Let me know and I’ll be back soon with pricing on prints.

3. If you prefer to not use paypal, my address is: Roxanne Amico. PO Box 52, Buffalo, NY 14213

Please make checks payable NOT TO ME, BUT to:

Earthstream Creative Projects, Inc. If the check is for art, write, “art” in the memo field. If it’s for support to continue my work, write, “media services”. NOTE: Any payment for my work is NOT tax-deductable, so the proper language is NOT a donation. Financial support is for the work I do, either “goods” (in paypal parlance), like Art or services like Media Services.

Thank you for your support for me to keep fighting to do my art and activism! Your concern means a lot and your spirited encouragement helps keep me going, and reminds me why I do what I do!
