A few feature notes....
--The local music feature will be a tune about living in Buffalo by singer and songwriter Kilissa Cissoko
--We'll talk with a mover and shaker in Buffalo's housing justice movement, and explore the relationship of housing and racism
--Our "Vigil Watch" will be a conversation with a couple of people who hold vigil from their homes for fallen US soldiers
On Thurs night, after swimming it was--happily-- raining hard. I was in a corner store and the clerk said something about having to walk home in it. I asked if he had far to walk, and he said no, just a couple blocks. I took a chance of reaching in and finding out his world view, said, "Well, you really don't have anything to whine about... I mean, you could be wandering around for weeks or months looking for a place to live because of bombs that your own government paid for, right?" He smiled back at me in recognition and said, "Yeah, that would really suck..."
--And so, our "Walk and Talk" is inspired by those who are now wandering the planet, looking for a home, either in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, or all the other places hoards of people bleed into because of the bombs of our government.... They and their ghosts of the past 50-100 yrs. I will ask people on the streets of Bflo what is their experience with homelessness or housing discrimination.
--We will have a guest Rioter-in-a-Mic who looks at racism and the film "Crash"
